Harldan's Leveling Guide

(Updated 05/15/25) The guide is now updated for The War Within! The 70-80 sections of the guide have been completely reworked, as the Dragonflight 60-70 guides are obviously no longer relevant. The 1-70 guides have also been updated to account for quality of life changes added in The War Within. The Horde route is mostly unchanged, but the Alliance route has undergone a few important adjustments, and it should be significantly faster than before.

You can use the links on the left side of the page to navigate to whichever part of the guide you're looking for. This is what you'll find within each section:

  • Instructions: The page you're currently reading. This page will discuss any recent updates, and it includes a changelog and some relevant links.
  • Levels 1-10: This is the 1-10 section of the guide. Since Ally/Horde differences are minor, I've decided to make this a single page.
  • Levels 10-70 (Horde): This page covers the entire 10-70 process, but only the sections relevant for Horde!
  • Levels 10-70 (Alliance): Same as above, but for Alliance.
  • Levels 70-80 (Campaign/1st Char): This is the 70-80 Guide for CAMPAIGN leveling, aka first-time playthroughs. If you're leveling an alt, you should always use the Alt Leveling Guide.
  • Levels 70-80 (Alt Leveling): This is the 70-80 Guide for Adventure Mode, which is what you'll use for leveling all of your alts.
  • Leveling Old Characters: Are you leveling an old character that's already Level ~30+? Check out this page! It contains some helpful info on how to optimally use my guide.
  • Preparation: This page includes some bonus information on how to prepare for leveling runs, such as suggestions for heirlooms or consumables. (NOTE: This is still a WIP and will be expanded upon later.)
  • Fishing Extravaganza: This is where you'll find my guide for the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza. Winning this fishing tournament is a requirement in order to unlock the Dread Pirate Ring, which is a very important heirloom used for speedleveling.
  • Miscellaneous: This page contains random tips that don't fit into any of the above categories.


**IMPORTANT, READ BEFORE USING THE GUIDE**

This is a question that I get asked A LOT, so I want to provide a clear answer to it here:

The route does not require any experience buffs (Draught of Ten Lands, Anniversary Buff, etc), though you will obviously save time by using them. However, I STRONGLY recommend turning on War Mode when you reach Level 20, as this is a free 10-30% buff with next to no downsides. There is a very small chance that you'll get ganked when leveling through WoD zones or Khaz Algar, but this rarely happens and is a small price to pay for a massive time save and some overpowered PvP talents. Worst case scenario, if you do get ganked you can always walk to a nearby inn and disable War Mode. Personally, I also think it's worth your time to farm a bunch of Draught of Ten Lands before you level your characters. If you follow my farming guide (https://youtu.be/ejuwL40wuJk) you should be able to get a bunch of these, and they'll save you more time during your runs than it takes to actually farm them.

  • 02/18/23: The site is published! The guide has been reformatted to fit the website, and I've included information about the impact of Dungeon Leveling in Chromie Time and Dragonflight Leveling.
